The fertigation process, which is used in the Matão and Catanduva units, is an alternative system for treating the effluent generated in orange juice production. The effluent, which is rich in nutrients and consists of about 90% water, is used to irrigate other crops. In this process the effluent is treated through a natural process that absorbs the nutrients and returns the water to the soil. To ensure that this process is in conformity with the legislation, Citrosuco monitors the quality of both the effluent and the farm's soil.
